1930

Josef Schmitz Stahl- und Eisenrohre OHG founded; production of washing poles, rose arches and flagpoles


1946

The first medical products manufactured


1948

Construction of the first production hall of 1000 m2 on today’s site in Wickede (Ruhr)


1969

Production relocated to Bönen


1980

Bernd and Ludolf Schmitz are the third generation of the family to manage the company. Business name changed to SCHMITZ u. Söhne GmbH & Co. KG


2007

Dedication of a new R&D building in Bönen by Professor Dr Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Innovation, Science, Research and Technology in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia


2010

Friedrich Schmitz and Matthias Schmitz are the fourth generation to manage the company. In 2012 they both become managing partners.


2017

The IHK includes SCHMITZ u. Söhne GmbH & Co. KG in its list of Hidden Champions.
